Nature, Handcrafted and Heartfelt, Curator’s Pick
As an independent branding curator, I champion creative projects that connect craft, community, and cause. Sharon King-Chai has convened fifty leading children’s illustrators to celebrate nature through tactile, handmade work. The exhibition rejects slick, algorithmic imagery in favour of texture and human mark making. Expect layered papercut, sand art, expressive prints, and illustrated poetry. Featured names include Rob Biddulph, Rebecca Cobb, Tor Freeman and Marta Altes. Each original artwork is for sale. Proceeds support The Toy Project and Urban Forest Tribe, charities rooted in child welfare and urban nature.
This show is a rare opportunity to experience tactile children’s art up close. Sharon’s hand printed posters and gel plate prints emphasise texture, colour, and experimentation. Find the show at The Gallery at The Playroom, 99 Junction Road, N19 5QX. Opening hours run ten until six daily, from 9 June through 14 June. Bring a friend, buy a piece, and help sustain organisations that nurture children and urban wildlife. As a curator, I recommend visiting with curiosity, ready to be inspired by craft and colour.
