Ritual as Method for a Digital Identity

Mother Design's rebrand of Purple Garden, a mobile and online psychic services platform, began with a séance, a chakra reading and an automatic drawing workshop led by one of the platform's practitioners. The aim was to carry the feeling of spiritual practice onto screens, where atmosphere and ritual often get lost. The studio reframed the service from a one-off reading into a place for ongoing practice, built around a creative idea called A Living Practice. It shows how a studio moved between hand-made experiments and software, including AI tools, and how it kept those experiments tied to a clear audience and a clear brief. Designers working in wellness, lifestyle or any category full of visual clichés will find practical ideas about differentiation. Strategists will see how two sister brands within one portfolio were given distinct jobs. It is a quick, enjoyable read.
