Bold graphics meet a vertical campus, chevron carpets, typographic stairs and a 3D waffle coffee bar, Fontys wayfinding by Silo.

Fontys Wayfinding, A Lesson in Spatial Branding

Silo transformed Fontys University’s R3 building into a coherent spatial brand, balancing bold graphics with vertical architecture. An open plan guides movement from lively ground floor social zones to quiet study areas on upper floors. Graphic room treatments, floor numerals, and black totems create legible sightlines, and support fast wayfinding. Visual motifs, such as the zigzag carpet, typographic risers, and a 3D waffle coffee counter, sharpen memory and identity.

Every decision reads like a branding brief, from graphics applied to glass meeting rooms to modular seating color systems. Study the project if you care about wayfinding that fosters connection, not just directional signage. Curated photography and diagrams reveal how identity elements scale through levels and functions. Explore material choices, timber seating, and typographic quotes that animate social spaces.

Designers and brand strategists will find concrete tactics for scaling identity across vertical spaces. Notable moves include active Dutch verbs paired with oversized numerals, clear type scales, and stripe bands for orientation. The layered approach keeps sightlines open, preserves daylight, and lets graphics frame activity, rather than compete with it. This project is proof that wayfinding design can build culture, not just navigate space.
